My new work computer has some high power USB ports, the ones with a lightning bolt next to them that can do an amp of charging. Its great because I get AC charging off of them but the downside is that my phone doesn't do data transfer, and I have to plug it into another port if I want to transfer data. I know the ports themselves work fine for data transfer because I have used other devices on them, so my thought is that it is a phone setting that determines whether to use AC or USB with data.

Does anyone know how this is determined, and if I can change it at will? For ex, use AC chargning to for the extra power, but switch to USB rate so I can transfer data.

*edit- by "AC charging", I mean my phone reports that it is the high power "AC" charge rate
