GPS icon popping up randomly for a second or two.

Usually, the GPS icon on my Droid 2 shows up when I am using an app that requires GPS location. Over the past couple of days, I noticed that the GPS icon turns on for about a second, then disappears, and repeats every few minutes when in the home screen or an app that doesn't require GPS. I have Gas Buddy, Google Maps, Latitude, Navigation. These all use GPS, but the one second activation of the GPS icon hasn't started until recently, and there have been no new apps downloaded. GOSMS Pro was updated, and I downloaded a pdf document from the Maryland DNR.
Any ideas as to what is causing the GPS momentary turn-ons? (non-rooted Droid 2)

You'd have to see what's running. There are apps for that.

You said that there were no new apps but were any apps updated?

Have any shopping apps? shopsavvy, etc. ?

Basically go to manage running services, and you will have to see what is running, and kill of things one by one if nothing stands out at you to find the culprit.
