Flick Scrolling Contact Widget

I'm curious if this concept is limited to first having a full homescreen overhaul, or if it can be accomplished in a widget?

From the thread, it appears that it's a limitation and that a homescreen replacement app must be used to jump off of.

For the serious developers, is location based scrolling available for widgets? by location, i mean within the widget, not geographically speaking.

I thought a scrolling monthly calendar would be nice as well. Same concept different application.

Pure Grid Calendar "kind of" does it with a refresh. But it would be cool if it would scroll just like the app drawer with a swipe of your finger, but within the confines of the widget. Could be used for a album cover flow within a widget as well. All kinds of uses.

Exactly my thoughts. I would love a widget across the bottom of my homescreen like the one on the Nokia in the link above. Seems so simple, but then again, i'm not fluent on the limitations of the widget API calls.
