Can the droid drive a keyboard & monitor?

I have seen a LOT about tethering the droid, and while it is appealing, I am not ready to do that yet.
Rather, I was wondering if there is an application that would allow the droid to act as the CPU and run the keyboard and monitor (and I guess the mouse) through the synch cable. Sort of like the "dummy" terminals that we used to use before networking.
Seems to me that would be an elegant and simple solution.

What would be nice is if it was possible to make a Dock that would have a screen the size of say a netbook , 8 to 11 inches and allow keyboard and mouse , a Droidbook phone dock . :motdroidvert: :motdroidhoriz:

Curious as to why you would want to... as cheap as budget laptops and/or netbooks are you can get one of those for the cost of a monitor, keyboard and mouse (less you just happen to have them laying around already). And even the cheapest laptop would be more powerful than the Droid. Maybe I'm missing something??
