Battery life

I read that if you do a few certain things to settings that it would help extend battery life. I am a new android user I was wondering if doing any of the following will have adverse effects.

[FONT=&quot]1.[/FONT][FONT=&quot] disable all animations
2. [/FONT][FONT=&quot]disable always-on mobile data[/FONT][FONT=&quot]
3. [/FONT][FONT=&quot]uncheck background data box
4. uncheck auto-sync [/FONT][FONT=&quot]

[/FONT]I am not opposed to manually updating apps and do not need everything to automatically update.
