Worth it to root?

I have my droid rooted and have installed many different ROM's on it, but I almost feel like rooting the phone and doing all that actually slowed the phone down in the long run. So far my fascinate is almost perfect, except I miss little apps such as shootme for screenshots.

Will rooting mess up this phone or slow it down?

Rooting your phone shouldn't affect it's performance.

Root just gives you access to more of the phone. What you do with it makes a difference
