Helped a buddy root his X today. Hes running an app called DX/D2 overclock and says he has his phone OCed to 1.43ghz.

I didnt think it was possible to OC without a custom OC kernel? He has not installed a custom kernel.

Is this possible?

Its currently not possible to load a custom kernal on d2/x but I can tell you that he is in fact overclocked... just can't tell you how/why its possible.

its just a script that can change the processor speeds/voltages.

Now I know. I saw some stuff about it when it was first cracked but I was like "meh i'll wait for an app..."

Not the best way to go about things...

Nice, also since I have a captivated audience, im assuming its not possible to load a custom rom on it then right?

Roms are doable. There's just not a ton of options right now, but the library is getting larger.

So why can you do custom roms but not custom kernel?

Could be way off base but i'm pretty sure it has to do with the locked bootloader.
