Just got my Droid. First phone with real capabilities, so learning curve is steep right now. I was told by the Verizon guy that email was NOT pushed to Droid. I was poking around for setting to change frequency of email/contact/calendar sync (for no real reason), and didn't see. Is there such a setting, or was I told wrong? Cuz it seems like the info is being pushed.

Thx,
Will

It's my understanding gmail is pushed, other email is not.

In my short 24 hours with the phone, I can report the same findings

Gmail is pushed, others are fetched (as frequently as every 5 minutes if you want), Exchange accounts are also pushed I think

Google is definitely making gmail more attractive than pop accounts. What a surprise!

If there is a gmail setting that will poll pop accounts every 5 minutes drinks are on me.

If your Exchange server supports Activesync, you can have it use Push.

Gmail pushes by default.

All tested and confirmed with personal accounts.

In the Online Gmail Client(On computer) you can have gmail grab email from pop and imap servers.

The OP can always forward his email to hid gmail. Once gmail recieves it its oushed to the device. That's how I do it

Do you guys have e-mail that is SO important that 5 minutes is that big a deal?

If you are EXPECTING a mail, you can "Refresh" to get it now ...

If you had a BB you would understand. BB is king of push email...Gmail does work well on the Droid. I have no issies and it's pushed to :).

Agree with Miami above. Last year, I had emails that important.

Now, it doesn't matter.

But after having owned a BB for a year, I want everything pushed so I can decide whether it's important or not :)

Of course, while push email is nice, it doesn't cover up for the glaring deficiencies my Storm had....

This.
Without the spelling errors.

Work email is pop, so I have gmail pull it, then it gets pushed.
