If all aspects of all roms were completely compatible with each other as well as every launcher ( i know there not but let pretend). What would you pick from each rom to be your "perfect rom"?

I never really could see any benefits to the custom roms. All I could see where a bunch of apps I could download from the market. The real power lies in the custom kernels that allow OCing and wifi.

I'm starting to agree with this more and more.

Yeah I can download the stuff removed from a ROM again from the market. But I could also download some of the things included in the ROM from the market if I wanted them in the first place.

I'm not really a fan of most of the cosmetic/visual tweaks in Roms and themes, although I do like nextheme....

Right now I'm running the stock FRF57 with the things I don't want removed. And a few tweaks to the build.prop file.

After running several Bugless Beast Variations of 2.1 and one of 2.2. I don't feel like I'm missing anything running stock tweaked to my liking.

Ya'll should check out my Pl3x Rom. Its not just a bunch of apps thrown together that can be downloaded from the market. Pl3x Rom has REAL enhancements.

* Native Dynamic Over Clocking support in the Settings menu.
--- No need to rely on SetCPU anymore
--- Works with ANY kernel
* Customizable LiveWallpaper
--- Pick your own background image
--- Pick your own glow image (the dot)
--- Pick your own pulse image (the trail)
--- Set your own pulse trail width
--- Set your own pulse trail length
* 2.0 Rotary Lockscreen is an option in the Settings Menu
--- Easily change back and forth between 2.1 and 2.0 LockScreen
* Native support for blocking most unwanted Ads in all Browsers and all Apps
* Native ability to turn off BootAnimation to speed up boot time in the Settings menu
* Native ability to disable Camera/Recorde shutter sounds in Settings menu

Loads more to come in future releases! :D

Billy - All those things seem to be included in just about every other ROM out there...
As for me, I want a ROM that's basically stripped down to nothing and the code optimized to run fast...
Everything else I can add myself, I don't care about stock launchers or themes.
I'm a "play around with Legos" kinda guy, give me a solid base with nothing and let me add the stuff I want, then I'm not bogged down with all sorts of crap I don't use.
The only thing I really care about is that Vibrate is active at all times and it runs fast.

Thats exactly what Pl3x Rom is.. Its based on CM 5.0.8, but isnt bogged down by all the apps they include - Pl3x Rom only contains the standard app set (maybe a few more). We even use the 2D Launcher for speed. Anyone that's ever used my Rom has told me its the fastest 2.1 they've tried ;)

And no, not all roms include my stuff. I made the native OC settings menu. I made the custom LWP. Those aren't kanged from anywhere :p

What I'd like most is DE on a nice clean 2.2 build with a nice 1GHz kernel, thats all the sexy you can handle.

I would go for a bb 1.1 base with many of cyans options such as 360 rotation, themed by slayher like his genesis 1.2 with adw launcher and the 2.0 lock scren.

1. Pl3x is fast, like bb
2. Pl3x is built off cyan
3. Well, pl3x don't have this theme yet
4. Adw launcher is coming in next release :)
5. Pl3x has an option for the 2.0 lockscreen

Throw it up on rom manager and I will give it a go ( yes I'm too lazy to download and manage my own roms, plus I paid for it so why not use it)

I agree. The only roms that are really different from base are those that are compiled from the latest Google source. Those have the newest Android features. This is why there's no Froyo version of the Cyanogenmod Rom yet, because Google has yet to release the 2.2 source code.

The other roms are only the base Android version with custom themes, apps added or removed, and tweaks to various settings. Whether a particular rom appears to run faster than another is due entirely to the custom kernel and the apps that are installed.
