Wirelessly accessing SD card. Advice?

I am trying to set up a way to access the droids SD card wirelessly from a computer. The obvious solution is to set it up as an FTP client, however, the wireless Internet is on a different subnet then the computers Internet, thus the computer isn't able to see the droid.

Does anyone have any other things that i could check on to get this functionality working? Perhaps a blue tooth solution? Even just a point in the right direction would be great!

Thanks :)

I assume the WAN side of the wireless router is on the same subnet as your computer? Though your computer won't be able to see the Droid, the Droid should be able get to your computer. You can use the app, Estrongs File Explorer" to copy and paste things from your droid's sdcard to shares on your computer. In Estrongs, you will need to use your computer's IP address instead of its host name.

I know that is not what you asked about since you want to use your computer to see the sdcard. Even though I have the option to do both, Estrongs makes it so simple, that is all I ever use.

The other option is to use 3G. I have successfully installed an FTP server on the Droid. The FTP server will tell you what the Droid's current public IP address is. You will use that IP to connect to from your computer's FTP client. Kind of a pain since you always have to see what your IP address is since there's no way your Droid can have a static IP address. I guess there may be an app out there that reports the current IP address to a DNS forwarder similar to NOIP.com, but I haven't checked.

A third option is to put your own wireless router next to your computer and configure it as an access point instead of a router which will of course put your Droid on the same subnet as your computer.

Alas, the wireless is part of a DMZ, and has no access to the subnet that the computer is on :(

I am looking at a possible bluetooth solution right now, and have found a couple posts around the interwebs saying that Verizion limits what you can send over bluetooth. Does anyone know if this is still the case? (I am still looking around for a definitive answer, but don't have a computer with bluetooth to test it on right now)

Edited my post above. What about the 3G option using an FTP server on the Droid?

Using a wireless router as an access point is a wonderful idea, exactly the type of solution i was looking for! Thanks :)

Now, to go find an old wireless router laying about somewhere...

Try using WebSharingLite File/Media Sync, when you open the app it will give you an address to type into your browser along with a password, upon entering all of that, it will show all files on your phone just as if you had the usb cable hooked up (i think wifi is required though). With the lite version i think you can only move files from the computer to the phone, to transfer from phone to computer you have to pay $3 or somewhere around there.
