Is there any simple way to block SMS / calls while wirelessly tethering? I tend to game while I tether since my AT&T home connection is literally less reliable, but a picture message means 5 seconds of lag and a call means a sure-fire disconnect. Am I able to put all messages/calls temporarily on hold somehow?

Airplane mode would also disable 3g, making the entire point irrelevant.

You're saying that your DSL broadband connection at home is slower than 3G?

I forget the name of it but there is a beta version of a new rom available that has a flaw where you can't get phone calls if you have 3G turned on, short of that (which I wouldn't recommend) I have no idea how you could deactivate calls and messages while retaining tethering access.

I'd suggest dealing with the problem rather than the symptom. Get at&t to fix it or use a better broadband provider.
