Unfortunately I can't give advise on this since you have a Nexus and I'm not familiar with that phone at all. Have you looked in the Market? Doesn't it come with one to do all of this? Market is now the Play Store.

The mp3s should play through the music app. For videos, I use this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mxtech.videoplayer.ad
