where is the .gif image support?

whenever I encounter a .gif image in the droid's browser (actually i'm using the milestone browser because of the multitouch) it shows as a nonmoving image. for example, this dancing banana: :icon_ banana: appears as a nonmoving banana when viewed on my phone.

tl;dr: .gif's don't work.

-can we expect .gif support in the future?

-is this an issue unique to my device?

Yes I too would like to know why .gif files are not supported on this phone. Come on Android even my old LG Voyager phone supported .gif files.

Its not just your phone. There has been threads on this before. I certainly wish GIF were supported, seems like such a simple thing.
