What's using my GPS?

Go to Menu/settings/applications/manage applications/menu/filter/running. This will show what apps are running and you can select any and then force close it. You should be able to spot the offender there.

Willing to bet it is your browser. Open it up, close all tabs, let google (assuming that is your homepage) completely load and find your location. Then hit back.

If you close out of the browser while google is trying to find your location, it will just keep trying and trying.

I have set my homepage to about:blank. When I close all windows I am left with a blank one that doesn't try to do anything.

The offending app was Tweetcaster

It was keeping the GPS on for as long as 30 minutes. I uninstalled it and installed Seesmic. I was going to file a bug report with Handmark, but to do that, I had to give them my mobile number. NFW was I doing that for a free app.

I have had no trouble using a GPS on UA - no need to hide. Have been asked if a certified Class B device and FA has accepted the answer. However only works on a window seat. Most current GPS do not currently support routes.Best to be careful when using these in big routes.

OR you can just turn your GPS off when your not using it. Fantastic idea I must say...
That's one option. I don't and I have no problems but I do pay attention to the notification bar. You gotta go with whatever works for you though.
