What do people want Flash for?

I mean yes it is nice for those websites that do not have a moblie version but they are few and far between. I just really fail to see any "want" for Flash on my phone. As a mater of fact I go out of the way to block Flash on my laptop so I do not get all the stupid animated ads.

What exactly am I missing out on?

Why, those stupid animated ads!!!! :D

Flash is absolutely necessary for certain web sites. Say I want to go check the schedule at MLB Extra Innings. I can't even move the schedule without flash.

Different animations, all kinds of stuff. If you don't have it many web sites will tell you to go install it.

It's nice to know it's available for when I do need it. Like everything else with the Droid it's nice to have the option.

It is a great tool. My wifes website uses flash on the opening page. A lot of times she has to use her phone to show the webpage off when she is not near a computer. It is simple flash but it makes the site start off good. People just love extras and flair on the web.

Has anybody actually seen flash work well on the Droid? The way I see it, if they're going to all this trouble to have flash on 2.2, and advertise it, and all of that, it needs to work at least somewhat well. I have yet to see it be more than a choppy, sub-par attempt at the true flash experience. Maybe (hopefully) that'll change by the time it is finally (officially) released, but at this point, it really feels forced on the Droid.

I guess it is just another form of controlled advertisement. I run into that dumb little blue block all the time and its not porn. A lot of performing artists are propped up by label websites driven by flash. The rest, now that I think about it were just selling something. Maybe I don't need it as much as I thought. I've found some sites that link to alterior content that leaves one feeling like they're running some outdated prehistoric OS. I hope they resolve soon who gets what money & release the update so I can voice dial my Bluetooth and view any web content I want which is the impression I was instilled with by Verizon when I bought in.

I don't lol and, on all the sites I dev I only use flash when there is no other option. I choose flash instead of any other format in them instances.

I know like over 98% of the users that visit will have flash already installed to there browser. And no body wants to install a plugin that they have never really herd of just for one site.

So to me I think flash is almost a standard for any modern browser to have. Android is a smart phone OS and it want's to meet and pass all standards.
