Volume control while locked

Im constantly putting my phone on silent cause my volume buttons are functional while my phone is locked. Is there a way to deactivate volume buttons until its unlocked?

I just looked through all the settings and couldn't find anything. I actually find it useful for changing the volume when listening to music. I haven't had a problem with the ringer though.

Actually I just tried it to see if it changes my ringer volume. It doesn't change it when my phone is locked (black screen) but it will when I'm on the lock screen. You can change media volume when it's locked though.

I agree its nice to adjust the volume for media but its annoying when it does it for ringer volume. I'm constantly turning the ringer off cause of it. Hopefully HTC will have more help. Thanks for the reply.

Got a response from HTC

"I did some research on our lab phone for these issues for you. I apologize but when it comes to the volume, if the screen is on the volume can be adjusted."
