Voice Recorders difficult to record; play back unintelligibly

Can anyone help on this. I've tried 3 voice recorders on my Motorola Droid and they are not working right. Playback, when it does record, is extremely slow and unintellible. Any settings to fix it?
I've used Voice Recorder, vRecorder and Voicememo; all same result. And Voice Recorder mostly won't record unless I click it more than a dozen tries. Help is invited.

Try Rehearsal Assistant with Sound Recorder widget. Easy to use and GREAT sound quality.

Rehearsal asst. easier to record, BUT

It still plays back so slowly as to be unintelligible. Must be some setting on the Droid, since it applies now to all 4 recorders. HELP!

it plays back at a speed slower than it's being recorded? if so, sorry. I have no idea.

I have no problems with Voice Memo.
Have you rebooted?
