Vibrate on Silent Mode

On my Moto Droid 1, running FroYo, the silent mode switch changed it to vibrate instead of pure silence. I am wondering if there is a way to do this in android 2.1

there's a widget out there for that, i use the silent toggle widget. gives u vibrate mode.
