Verizon's backup assistant?

Just got my DX and it says if I want to transfer my contacts to my new phone I have to get the backup assistant through verizon. Is there another way to do this??

You are coming from a Droid (or another Android device right?). Your contacts should sync with your gmail account. Meaning as soon as you log in, and allow syncing with your gmail account, your contacts, calendar and market data (apps) should get synchronized automagically with your phone after a few minutes.
