It wasn't a few years ago that one of our biggest gripes about non-nexus phones were the slow updates. But between Motorola and LG we may have to re-think that. The "little engine that can" Moto E (2nd Gen) is getting updated to 5.1 Lollipop via OTA through Verizon. It may not be 5.1.1 but close enough, especially for a budget device.

8+ months is a "Timely Update" in this day and age? LOL

The Turbo still doesn't have Lollipop and likely won't have it till July or August...

Exactly, 8+ months after Lollipop was released. For the company that was owned by Google and who also makes the current Nexus phone...

There is nothing timely about Moto's releases, in fact they are currently one of the worst out there in regards to updates...

When Samsung is releasing updates months before you do, you know there's a problem. LOL

IMHO it took them to long to get LP to the X but at least we're going straight to 5.1. But for the Turbo to still be on kk is inexcusable.

Yeah, and the fact that according to a G+ update from the on of the Development managers, it is still in the lab testing, which means it has not been released to VZW and so no OTA is coming any time soon.

Hey I wanted to give a quick update on our progress on the DROID Turbo 5.1

Which is why this is going back to the VZW store tomorrow and I am exchanging it for a Nexus or an iPhone. Tired of no matter what phone I pick, they can't update the damned thing...

Apple stands up to VZW and tells them how things are going to be. Moto, LG and Samsung need to grow a pair and do the same thing.

It's not like VZW can walk away from 3 of the 4 largest phone makers because they want the same sweet deal that Apple gets... VZW needs their handsets... one of them just needs to man up and start that process...
