Verizon Wireless has created a stir in the market with their latest Android Phone by Motorola aka Motorola Droid. With their ad-campaign of Motorola Droid spoofing the iPhone, it was able to draw the attraction of almost everyone who has even have the least interest for the gadgets like this. The phone was at first announced to be available on Wednesday, the 28th of October, 2009 but it seems that it is going to be postponed until November 6. So hold on your breath for some time to get your hands on the device. However, if you want a closer look at the phone with some more information than the technical specifications, you can read our Motorola Droid Review here: http://gadgetophilia.com/verizon-android-release-date-price/

We don’t yet have any information on the price yet but we expect it to be the same with the iPhone at $199 with a 2 year contract. The exact information will be available within two days from now and we will let you know it as soon as we get it.

From what I understood the Oct.28th date was merely for the press conference where they were announcing the droid family of phones that verizon will be mainly streamlining as their flagship phones and a few others, because as you know there was one phone that is slipping between the cracks with no mention, and it's suppose to hit stores the 6th of November.

yup, announced tomorrow and released on Nov 6th. it should be the Motorola Droid, Motorola Calgary and the HTC Eris. we'll see tomorrow!

i will be at verizon in the morning looking for phone porn (handouts or pamphlets or whatever), and i'll post pics if i get anything.

lol i would do the same, but work prevents me from doing this much. I hate when work gets in the way of fun stuff.

Yeah i think it was a "mistake" that Motorola put it up. just like leaking videos and songs out before they are released for purchase was a mere lapse in security.

Just sold my iphone on ebay along with some accessories. It brought $650.

The older of my two Verizon lines still has a year to go for eligible for any discounts. Now hopefully the full retail Droid won't be any higher than what my iphone brought.

nope, you should be set. welcome to the forums!

Full retail price for the droid is 599.99. At a 7% tax (+/- a few for whatever your tax is) will bring you to right almost at $642.00. Depending upon if you wanted any of the accessories for it, i'm quite sure it will take you over, but if not then you are good to go.

My Tour is going up on Ebay tomorrow. They are bringing about 300 dollars. I will add the other cause I just upgraded to buy the Tour. So full retail for me.

Alright, now I am getting very irritated with Verizon. I called my local store and they said they have no pricing info for the Droid for Friday. Could not give me any info on rebates and NE2 info.

Needless to say, this is starting to wear thin with me and I am starting to have second thoughts about Verizon. I LOVE the Droid and want it badly, but if they don't get it together I may just skip it. Sorry to rant, but I am hitting nothing but roadblocks...Same goes for BB. No one seems to know ANYTHING.

I had the same discussion at my VZ store, and the rep said that they aren't told or allowed to disclose the price because a stated price gets changed at the last minute before launch. Not wanting to get into a hassle about changing the price, they don't officially announce it until go time. Even a launch date can change, although that seems to be pretty concrete. Maybe they'll drop the price!

From press release: "DROID by Motorola will be available in the United States exclusively at Verizon Wireless Communications Stores and online on Friday, Nov. 6, for $199.99 with a new two-year customer agreement after a $100 mail-in rebate. Customers will receive the rebate in the form of a debit card; upon receipt, customers may use the card as cash anywhere debit cards are accepted." This says that the 2 year contract price will be $199.99 AFTER the $100 mail in rebate. So, price to walk out of store with new 2 year contract will be $199.99. How is anyone getting to $99.00?? I'm usually not dense, but this isn't working for me!
