Verizon android update?

I woke this morning only to find my phone asking for a system update of 17mbs. Im certain this will unroot my phone and stop me from using my wifi tether correct?

Droid Incredible ADR6300

I have an Incredible with the ota 2.2 (manually loaded) and rooted using Unrevoked. I received the Verizon update prompt this morning. I tried to do it but was stuck at the programs rebooting screen for an hour with nothing happening (it said it would take 5-15 minutes). I eventualy hit Home and the phone opperated like normal. I rebooted and am still at the old version number 3.21.605.1. Checking for software updates does nothing.

I suspect that if you are rooted the update won't work. I don't think it can unroot you though.

Has anyone with ota 2.2 rooted been able to load the update?

If its like the original droid and you have a custom recovery the update will fail and then its over, and your phone will be the same.

I'm at work atm, but this is good news I shall try the update later at home and pray it fails and leaves me and my beautiful droid alone....lol

Question after update have you noticed any changes in the phone?

Update on the latest Update.....

lol, anyway i got sick of the goddamned nag screen over and over I finally said screw it lets see what happens.

I have a HTC Droid Incredible, rooted, with titanium backup freezing several stock apps.

I finally accepted the update and as the above posters said, the phone said getting ready to update.... followed by rebooting to finish update.

Well I went to take a piss, upon my return the phone was still on the same screen saying rebooting. i just hit the return key and it went away no more nag screen.

To make sure i did a quick reboot of my phone to see if any files may try to install.... Nothing everything is exactly as it was.

The update was just away to screw ppl from rooting, and spam us with more Vcast apps and oh wait SLACKER ..... who cares Pandora is by far superior!

I have an Incredible with the 2.2 OTA update installed manually. (I previously had 2.1 rooted and loaded the OTA manually to unroot.)

I have received the update screen twice over the past 2 weeks, both time I hit the "Restart Now" or "Update Now" button (can't remember) and the phone just did nothing. The phone's "System Updates" screen in settings says that I have the most up to date version.

The software information screen is showing Android version 2.2, Baseband version 2.15.00.07.28, Kernel version 2.6.32.15-gb7b01d1 htc-kernel@and18-2 #1, Build number 3.21.605.1 CL231334 release-keys, Software number: 3.21.605.1.

Any idea how I can force the update?

Thanks!

I have a employee that has a incredible unrooted and received the update on wed the 17th. the problem is that he stated the update never finished and he decided to pull the battery because it would not turn off. and now the update is what i bet is half installed and has dumped his personal contacts. Is there a way of taking out the update with out doing a full factory reset? He is off site so i will be doing this over a phone with him.

Please I hope somebody can help I have been searching yesterday and today and have found answers I don't like to hear when i am haveing to do this remote over the phone. :icon_eek:

There is a link to download the ota update manually http://android.clients.google.com/p...on_WWE_3.26.605.1_3.21.605.1_release_sign.zip

Has anyone with rooted ota 2.2 tried to manually install the update? That's how I did my ota update to 2.2 because I didn't want to wait for Verizon. They warn that you will lose root but I don't see why. Even if you do couldn't you just do unrevoked again?
