Even though our recent story regarding the average battery life of the Moto X (2014 version) might have some of you concerned about the hot new Android device, (here at HQ), we still think the phone will be perfectly viable for most users. We are still very excited by the phone and wanted to share the latest interesting intel with you guys.

Supposedly, the unlocked and unbranded version of the Moto X (2014) will be branded as the "Pure Edition." We can't help but appreciate this subtle marketing acknowledgement to the fans of Motorola who always prefer a "pure" experience on their devices.

While this technically won't be 100% correct, since the Android version on the phone isn't without a few Moto enhancements, for the most part, these changes have been welcomed by the community. Very few people who have tried the OG Moto X thought that any of the additions Motorola made felt like bloatware or crapware.

Motorola has not been specific as to when the Moto X (2014) "Pure Edition" will come, but we suspect it won't be much longer than the "late September" launch schedule of the vanilla Moto X (2014). In fact, Moto could launch them simultaneously.

It's a shame that Verizon won't be getting this version of the Moto X (2014). :(

Verizon must hate ....nevermind

but it is a shame that Verizon will not allow customers to buy the phone from motorola (taking full responsibility for cost/warrant/etc) and just put a Verizon sim card in. But wait Verizon do not want those users effecting the quality for others using the exact same phone with a Verizon logo and Verizon bloatware.

This phone will decide if I leave Verizon for my personal account or not.
