uh oh!!! took an ota and now cant reroot droid 1

ok i have searched and searched on how to reroot after i installed a stock img of 2.2 and afterwards silly ass me took the ota now i cant root using universal androot? i have found that as of now there is no fix to reroot after this ota but all i can find is this is on the incredible... does this same info pertain to the droid 1? meaning after the ota for 2.2 the droid 1 cannot be rooted anymore as of now.
if it can can someone please point me to the correct thread to do this.. the universal androot was so easy...

uh oh again.. it seemed to do the root for me... so i attempted to install the kernel i originally started with on a simple rooted stock device just to have a overclocked droid... now when i use rom manager to do the rom install it reboots to a triangle and the droid and does nothing from there... what am i doing wrong here i dont ever recall seeing this when i rooted and installed the new kernel last time?

Thanks Hookbill, I downloaded and installed z4Root. It was simple. I downloaded Clockworksmod and am backing my D1 up now. I've been very nervous about doing this so far so good. Tomorrow I'm in the market for a ROM, probably Liquid from what I'm reading about it, it is very stable.

Thanks Hookbill, I downloaded and installed z4Root. It was simple. I downloaded Clockworksmod and am backing my D1 up now. I've been very nervous about doing this so far so good. Tomorrow I'm in the market for a ROM, probably Liquid from what I'm reading about it, it is very stable.

You also may want to consider Succulent Desire 7.0. It's been out for awhile and is VERY stable. Also, it's a "pre-themed" rom. There are four or so different roms, each one being themed from the get-go. I particularly recommend SHINE and Atlantis Blue. Both are utterly gorgeous to look at, and the rom itself is smooth and solid. I've never had *any* problems with a rom created by Woodyman.

If your in the market for a rom then take a look at ChevyNo1's SS v4.9. His roms are very stable and he has even started doing auto updates to fix problems that have been spoted. They work with one push if you have clockwork recovery. However these one push update does not update you to the next full version of the rom, for example going from 4.9 to 5.0, it does install all patches though. Its quite handy not having to connect to a pc to get an update. Chevy's roms all come stock with his 1ghz low voltage kernel, it defaults to stock clock of 550mhz until you open setcpu. In his tools he also has an overclock option as well.
I have used chevys SS rom since 4.2 without any problems. As such they are worthy of their name Simply Stunning.

Indeed! ChevyNo1 is THE BEST dev on the Droid...I broke the glass on my Droid's screen, so I'm looking to replace it...just to get back SS!

your best bet is to try out as many roms as you can for a couple days each. not every phone is the same so they act differently between one user and another.

i have gone through about 10 different ROMs before i decided to stick with Project Elite.

and they all had something (mainly redraws which is a universal problem) that drove me nuts. so i kept switching. i am sticking with PEv2 for now, but i always give new ROMs a shot when they come out.
