Uh Oh, clumsy me

So.... I dropped my phone today, and now the main ear speaker won't work @ all. I've only had this phone for a few months, as Verizon sent me a replacement earlier this summer (due problem with how the phone performed - nothing hardware related, but that was their fix.) Neither of the phones on our account are due for upgrade until January.

Any tips on how to deal with Verizon on this? I figure worst case, I just buy a bluetooth earpiece for making calls until January.

Is there any evidence that it fell? If not why volunteer this info to Verizon? Just bring it in there and say that the ear speaker stopped working!

Insurance, nope, I guess I learned my lesson.

The drop was while sitting in a chair, onto carpet, and I have the rubber case on it. Now... I'm not the most gentle person with my phone /blush, but I'm pretty surprised that a fairly simple floor drop broke this. So, I don't feel too bad in pushing them to meet me 1/2 way or something along those lines.

* Speakerphone, lol, I love that idea! So would the people who sit around me @ work.

You'd just have to keep the sex chatter to a minimum while working :rofl3:

Tell them the truth. Then threaten to buy out your contract and go get an iPhone 4 with AT&T. They'll work with you.

Note: The above is just a threat, no one really wants that piece of crap phone on that piece of crap network. :)

Update: gotta give VZW customer service credit.
The phone was still under warranty. Replacement arriving in the mail tomorrow, no cost to me. :icon_ banana:
The person helping me @ the store was very helpful, took care of all the swap info on the phone for me.

One more problem where they want to replace the phone makes me eligible for an upgrade. I guess third time is the charm.

It does? Good to know. Not that I'd intentionally sabotage my phone, just trying to get it replaced under warranty can be enough of a headache if you get the wrong VZW tech (next time I don't do a battery pull first, I bring it in and let them do it--long story). I was rattled enough that I called VZW customer service when I got home to ask a few questions about replacement phones and warranty.
Keeping my fingers crossed now (for both of us).
Droid 1 or Eris, we're all Droiders together! :greendroid:

Verizon has a little known policy to push your upgrade up if they've had to replace a phone under warranty more than 3 times within 90 days. I know there is a restriction with how recent your last upgrade was and don't know what that is, but we've been able to use this policy a couple times with our 5 phone account. A lot of the time you might have to contact a different support tech to get them to offer it, but it is there when it's needed.
