Turning off Sync

im sorry but this is probably a very noob question. i hear turning the sync off can save some battery life.

but if i were to turn it off, what is the result of that? i already synced all my facebook and gmail contacts. so what happens if i turn my sync off? thanks for any help community!

There's 2 sync options. Go to Settings > Account and sync...

one is background data... so any app can sync at any time whenever it calls on it. This will save battery if you disable it.

the second one is auto sync... which will allows applications like weather widgets and e-mail to sync based on the set intervals you have for each app.

background sync has to be on to use Market Place. (market will prompt you to enable it if it is disabled)

Well, I had sync turned off when I was at work today and then noticed that my online calendar updates weren't showing up on my phone. Also, email won't sync with it off. If it isn't important to you for those types of things to show up automatically, then it's OK to leave it off. You can always turn it back on. I think it's more important to turn off wireless, bluetooth and GPS when you don't need them.

Turning gmail sync off stops gmail from delivering...

I have two email account runnign 100 plus emails a day, 200 plus texts a day, about an hour of voice calls, and still get 15 hours of battery with gps enabled and bluetooth sometimes.

How do you get such good battery life?? You never have to charge it throughout the day?? I don't use nearly that much and my battery dies within 9 hours (tops) with light use....should I be returning my phone?
