Traveling to Europe - Is Verizon LYING to Me About My Options?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought Skype only worked from one Verizon phone to another.

Nope, you can make outbound calls as long as you have skype credit.. And you can receive inbound if you buy a skype dedicated number.

Also, I would like to forward my number, but doesn't the call have to ping the phone before it gets forwarded?

You can easily test this yourself. Set up call forwarding. Yank the battery (can't ping it then, obviously). Call your number.

I just came back from Italy and France.

The phone was basically my camera. I searched for Free WiFi and hardly found any. When I did I downloaded all my emails, etc. Generally used it in Airplane Mode to save battery so it wasn't constantly searching.

Ugh... the only downside I have found with Verizon--CDMA!

WIFI Locator

Great input about how to use in Europe......I'm headed there in 2 weeks....
sounds like wifi will work....

has anyone found or tried one of the wifi locator or sniffer apps....seems to me this would be a great help in looking for that free hotspot.
