Top 5 Apps --Categories - Requires You To Think!!

Okay ive seen my fair share of "your top 5 apps" or "your favorite apps" so heres a new one...

I made my own - now with CATEGORIES!!!! :icon_ banana:

here we go... ($ indicates paid app) (kudos to smalltowngirl13 for helping me come up with this :) )

1: Top 5 apps you cant go a day without using.


  1. Handcent (much better texting app than stock with MUCH more customization)
  2. $Tasker (create profiles and do automated tasks and save time)
  3. WeatherBug (keeps me updated with my forecasts)
  4. $Launcher Pro (way better than the stock home and much smoother)
  5. Dropbox (easy way to sync files with PC (multiple) and phone)

2: Top 5 apps that do a better job than the stock one android provided.


  1. Launcher Pro
  2. Beautiful Widgets(nice clock w/ weather widget + many others)
  3. Google Voice (free visual voicemail and free texting, very nice)
  4. Dolphin Browser HD(better in many ways)
  5. K-9 mail (just a better UI than stock email with more options)

3: Top 5 apps that arent well known but you love and would suggest to all of your android friends


  1. Screebl Lite (save battery using this app - simple idea and it works!)
  2. Vlingo Voice (it understands what i say better than google voice)
  3. $System Panel (manage your resources)
  4. AudioManager (Make sound profiles (paid) like BB and change your individual ringers with a widget)
  5. $Tasker (create profiles and do automated tasks and save time)

4: Top 5 apps for Rooted Users


  1. $Titanium Backup (must have for any root user. period)
  2. $Root Explorer (file explorer with a R/W option)
  3. Wireless Tether (free 3G hotspot)
  4. $SetCPU (easily control your CPU's speed)
  5. Drocap2 (screenshots made easy)

5: Top 5 apps OVERALL (this ones hard)


  1. Beautiful Widgets
  2. Handcent
  3. LauncherPro
  4. Tasker
  5. Titanium Backup

Not sure I have 5 for each one but I wanted to post to keep this thread bumped. It's a great one for new droid owners and seasoned vets.

Music Box (Great mp3 program)
Aldiko (ebook reader - probably the app I use the most)
endomondo (use it everytime I ride my bike)
Beautiful Widgets


2: Top 5 stock "replacement" apps
Launcher Pro
CM6 Power bar widget (not really an app as it comes with CM6 but it's way better than the stock one)
Astrid Tasks/To Do List

3: Top 5 "unknown" apps
Music Box
droidwall (needs root. Great for guys like me who don't have unlimited data)
backcountry navigator (great gps app for hunting/hiking in places with no cell signal)
toddler lock (completely locks your phone and lets your baby color on the screen)

4: Top 5 apps for Rooted Users
SetCPU
Droidwall
Titanium Backup
Rom Manager
That's only 4 but I absolutely use all 4 of these all the time!!
