Tip: Change notification volume

When you go to settings>>sounds and display>>notification ringtone if you press the side volume rocker while choosing it will change the volume of the notification independent of the ring volume.

setting / sound & display /ringer volume / uncheck Use incoming call volume for notifications then set your notification volume.

"Tone picker" . Not only does it allow you to use all of your songs as notifications, but you can control the volume of Ringer, Music, Call, System Sound, Alarms. There are many apps out there that really allow you to tweak each individual setting. I used to run another one that really gave you complete control but had a conflict with another app. I highly recommend trying some of the different ones in the market.
