Ok, ive had my Droid X for about a month now and love it, its an awsome phone, im coming from an Iphone 4 and I was amazed at how much better Android compared to Apple. Now my Iphone was jailbroken and I had all that good stuff, cydia, installous, alla that, so then I hear about rooting and I could hear the angles singing in the heavens, lol, but seriously tho, I want to root my DX, I just need a little guidance like I did when I jailbroke my iphone. I've been looking up some of the lingo for all of this and I think im getting it down, so, if anyone can give me advice/ steps to get me started, it would be greatly appriciated , im gonna do as much research as possible because the last thing I want is a $600 paper weight. Any help would be appriciated.

Glad to see you're committed to doing the research to know what you're doing before diving in!

If you check out the Rescue Squad section for the X, you'll find some helpful guides, examples of what NOT to do (Haha!) And some friendly help if you get stuck or can't find an answer to any questions you come up with while in the process.

Search around there is a 1 step root for that phone. It is really simple. You won't regret it that's for sure.

I have to admit this forum is extremly helpful, im slowley turning into a junkie the more I get into my phone and rooting, im gonna download the one step root now but don't I need to back up my phone before I do it? Or is that just before I install a rom? And which rom is better? I see alot of Liberty and Darkslide on here.

Ok, the stock on my phone to me just seems so smooth and I personally like the UI and everything, now once I get a rom( probably liberty) will it make my phone laggy or mess up any apps or anything? Or is that with custom roms? So far my phone has done everything I've asked it to do and then some, I have a feeling im gonna be blown away after this is all said and done.

Liberty beats Darkslide, hands down ! Darkslide is good, but Liberty is the shiznet!

DROID X Rolling On £IBERTY ROM 1.0 // TapaTalk Pro

It's kinda personal opinion. Darkslide works much nicer for me. And the enhancements are much nicer IMO. Personal choice.

+1! They're all good but just have different features. Not all phones run the same either. Just make backups and try them :)
