I really wanted to customize my Droid (2.1 still....), but don't have a general understanding of themes? Have wallpaper, etc. Many on market caution you must have previous downloads... thanks for any clarification (not overly technical)...

1st, you must root your phone.. then, you can do whatever you want. Otherwise you have what you have. Can't change it. Except the wallpaper I suppose.

Adding a theme will change the color of icons, notification bar etc. Basically, you are customizing your phone to your specific desires.

Click the form tab at the top left of this page scroll down and under Droid Discussions look for the Theme section. Click that link. There are several screen shoots from different themes that should clarify how and what themes do/change.

I've attached two screen shots from mine.
