The Froyo update has arived...

Ok, so Verizon is trying to force me to update to 2.2 FRO22D.

Problem is I have:

FRO1B (manually Installed)
Rooted (via easyroot)
OC'd (via chevy01 2.6.32-lowV-1.0Ghz)
Backup (with clockworkmod via Rom Manager)

So what do I do? The update keeps popping up on my screen, and I keep hitting "Update Later".

I read something odd pages in the Froyo news thread and people were saying if you were rooted you can't update, or something rather, or you couldn't root again after the update.

What do I do?

Thanks in advance for your really fast and educated replies. :)

use the search next time.

Let the update install, your custom recovery will block the install and you will not be prompted to install the update anymore.

When it pops up to install say "yes" or "okay" or whatever the option is.

It will reboot the phone, look like it's installing and then sit at and Android with an ! or a triangle with a ! (I can't remember). Tap the power button and you'll drop back into ClockworkMod Recovery. Hit Reboot and done.

Then go download and install the rooted FRG22D update so you want get the message again in a week.

I don't really want to install a p3droid update, I would like to install this one. I want to know how I can install this update.

Basically I need to know if this update will install over an OC kernel, or if I need to figure out how to get the normal kernel back.

and how do I get the update past sprecovery or clockworkmod.

and after this one is installed, can I use easyroot to root it again.

I am not a professional rooter/unrooter, but here is what I have done so that I can install OTA 22D.

First I used this http://www.droidforums.net/forum/rescue-squad-guides/74028-root-droid-1-regardless-os-version.html to root 01B.

It was written by MotoCache1 and will root any software version, is complete, and is easy. Moto is very smart and explains things well.

So I installed 01B and used the procedure above to root it. Then to make sure I get the OTA 22D I used the 77meg 01B zip and unrooted. I rooted and unrooted twice just to make sure it worked. The 01B will bring you back to stock, so when you update to 22D you will have to use the above to root and then redo your kenels and roms.

The 01B zip is linked in the above thread.

I hope this helps.
