Texting notification problem

I changed my text notification to a certain tone. But it still says DROID and cuts off the tone i selected. I changed it in the text > settings> select ringtone as well as in the phone> settings> sound display> notification ringtone but i can not get this phone to stop saying droid every time i get a text.
