Texting glitchy/ can't use punctuation

I'm wondering if this is happening to anyone else....

Wether I am using gtalk, handcent, or the regualr texting when I hit the . or ? or ! the program freezes and force closes. It even doesn't in the browser search bar. It happens when I use the physical keyboard and also the screen one.

It is EXTREMELY annoying. I probably should just turn it in and get a new one I bet.

Any recent changes to the phone?

Are you rooted? Using a different ROM?

So the basics are to power-down the phone and remove the battery. If that doesn't do it, do a factory reset (http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-3-faq/169057-droid-3-hard-reset.html) and not sync the apps.
