Tethering apps

Will the tethering apps built in this rom work for any rooted android phone or are they specifically for the D1?

The app in Chevy's rom is available in the market: https://market.android.com/details?id=android.tether&feature=search_result

I don't see why it wouldn't be usable on another phone as long as it meets the requirements listed in the above link.
