Tethered DX gives ping of 999 in BF:BC2, TP2 was fine

Hmm...just upgraded to a DX from a TP2 (YES!!!) Tethered the TP2 all the time and played BF:BC2 with great ping times. Now I tether with Easy Tether with the DX, and I get blanks for all the server pings, which eventually are filled in with "999". Regular tethered internet is blazing fast, so I figure something's being blocked, but what?

I also noticed tethering through the droid x was not as fast as my TP2

I switched to barnacle wifi tether program and it seems snappier

UPDATE: I tried a different tethering program, oddly enough called Tether (it was free, and in beta) and though I get the same odd 999 or - for all pings, I CAN join games as usual. I bet if I ponied up for a pay tether program it would be all good. I keep reading news releases from May that Froyo includes usb tethering - maybe it will be good stuff!
