Just wanted to give a heads up that I found that SYSTRAY MONITOR is easily the best battery/memory usage app out there. It displays a data point of your choosing in the notification bar and the remaining information is displayed in small text in the pulldown menu.
With this app, I really don't see the point in wasting home screen space on a battery app/widget.
