Swype updates

So swype just came out with a new beta version which fixes a bunch of problems. Since droid x users don't have the beta version, but instead have the pre-installed version, how do we get those updates? will they be part of ota updates?

for other pre installed apps I just downloaded the newest version and they replaced the pre installed version (google maps, my verizon are 2 I know I did this with). If you try to download it, it will tell you if it will replace the version you already have.

I just tried. The installed won't let me install. Asks you to uninstall the current version, which you can't do...can you? I know you can with root, but I didn't try. Don't use it a lot anyway, but figured I'd try.
