I could be wrong here, but isn't it getting added to other devices when updated to 2.2? I must say, I've been using swype on my DX for the past day or two and I really like it.

No, Swype is not part of 2.2.

To the OP - no one knows. The developer has said all along they want to see it to companies and not to end users. They would rather see it included in the OS rather than downloaded as an app. Hopefully they will change their minds and let us download it as an app once it goes out of beta.

No, Swype is not part of 2.2.

That sucks...I can see their point though on making it part of an OS update rather than just an application from the market but hopefully they will see how it improves the overall device and if it doesn't make it in as part of the OS update then hopefully they will have it out on the market.

That is very strange my swype works great with 2.2. Make sure you uninstall all ok instances of it before you download from the swype site.

As droid_freak said, be sure to uninstall Swype and the Swype Installer. Then go back to your beta email and re-download the Swype Installer and install that and then Swype. Should work fine with 2.2.

Are you running the 2.2 update from last week or the newest one form this week(the non patch one). I keep getting this a message saying my swype is configured for a another device.


Never mind. I had a old swype still in my phone. I just cleared and reinstalled. Now working.. Thanks

did you download the apk file directly onto your phone? if so, you should be able to go into the notification bar and then install it...

I don't see a place to do that. I dl'd the file from a link on this site and it was saved into my downloads folder.

Did you try to launch the install file from the download folder? Sorry I can't be more help to you, maybe someone else here can give you some pointers...

Make sure your phone is set to allow installs of non-Market apps. It needs to be set like this before you can install Swype.

To turn this option on, do the following from your home screen:

1) Menu
2) Settings
3) Applications
4) Unknown sources (CHECK THIS BOX)
5) Install Swype!
