Switching to Cyanogen

Ok, i've been using UD10 and was pretty happy with it at first. It was fast, snappy, smooth. But for a while now it's been slow, lagging, hanging and generally dysfunctionaly. So I'm switching to Cyanogen and will let you know how I feel about it.

Anybody else experiecne this and make the change?

UD v10 was just terribly buggy and slow for me right from the start. Whereas this newest CM is pure bliss. Phone is snappier, more responsive than ever, and battery life is great (because of a few tweaks, mind you).

I went from Bugless Beast to Ultimate Droid to JRummy's remix, which essentially a Cynagen Rom with some added flavor. I have not looked back since. This Rom is fast snappy and has not given me any problems. I even have all of my apps stored on my SD card, so I have over 180mb of ram or rom still available on my Droid and it flies. You will not be disappointed.

I second this post!! I love JRummy. I was UD loyalist, but took a chance to try something new. I havent looked back!

I'm running Cyanogen 6.1 now and have been on Cyan since 5.6. I too used to only run UD but after really falling for ROM Manager and Clockwork I decided to try Cyanogens work and haven't even thought of turning back since. Cyan does great work and he stuff seems very fast and stable!

Always wipe switching between ROMs (Cyan to UD and vice versa) it gives you a clean start for each rom and generally the best performance out of it as well! Just my humble opinion!

Thanks for the info. I wish i could have this feature without a 3d launcher.

thats just helix launcher 2...i doubt he wrote code to do that through the rom. anyone w/ helix2 can remove the icon and shortcut text.

Did you have to wipe data and clear cache when going from UD v10 to Cyanogen?

Wasnt UD10 a copycat of cyanogen?
Yes, you want to wipe data (2x) clear cache and install. If you used UD v10, I'd like to hear from you if it performs like cyanogen rom.

i made the switch a little while back and UD seemed to have a lot more force closes but less lag. however im also using a different kernel with CM.
overall i prefer CM and fact that ROM Manager is so handy doesnt hurt either.
Kudos Koush

I just installed it tonight and going to test over the weekend. Whether I keep it or not I'm not sure. I just installed the smoked theme. I wish the News widget had a transparent widget though.

I switched from Pete's BB to UD and I loved it. I'm kind of disappointed as to what happened with the whole black droid thing. I was thinking about going back to Pete's BB or I might give cyanogen a try.
