Is there a definitive guide without using a computer?

I rooted my fascinated with Z4root. I installed Rom manager in hopes to continue messing around with my phone. I am new to android, so the one click method was best. I downloaded a Rom in the app, and proceded to try to install it after backing things up. When my phone rebooted into recovery mode, I get an error with update.zip. Its not named update.zip.zip, I have already checked that. Does anyone know perhaps what I am doing wrong?

I am not sure it is possible with out a computer as you have to modify recovery for this to work...
