If you don't have a plan you can't have the insurance, that wouldn't make much sense, your bill would be just $9 a month lol
You had to buy one months worth of data, correct? What did they charge you to walk out the door with it?
I've heard that eventually they will have Xoom available that are wifi only. At least I think that's what I heard.
I think it's unfortunate that they don't have the no data required ones now.

You do not need any data plan. You can get it and just run it wifi only. I have heard thought there will be a wifi only model dropping in April for $600. I can't wait that long so I guess I'm coffin up the 800, oh well! Mabye in the future ill have a need to activate the radio......

I agree, I will reconsider a data contract when the 4G radio comes online, and tether to the D2G when out of wifi range. As the 3G speeds are very slow compared to my home setup, I am more likely to buy a 4G hotspot and share it with all my devices. Unless of course it is possible to use the Xoom as a hotspot while connected to 4G.
No data plan, but am thinking about getting a CLEAR MiFi for my data. Since they offer 4G in my area and at $35 a month (unlimited data) it would work at home with my laptop and on the road with my Xoom. I'm doing SquareTrade for my warranty. $200 for three years and it includes accidental damage, water, etc.
