Strange problem with audible selection sound?

Hey all,

Just rooted to JRummy's 5.0.9, and used RootExplorer to change the audible "click" that you hear when you select an item on screen. The issue is that the sound now only works when it wants to. It'll work totally randomly; sometimes you'll hear it, others you won't.

I've tried replacing it with another sound, thinking it may have just been the sound I was using; nope, still works randomly.

Any ideas?

Audible selection sounds won't turn off

Can this be related -- on regular Sounds & Display Settings, I uncheck the "Audbile Selection: Play sound when making screen selection" but I still get loud clicks and an old cash register sound when I select anything.

Am I missing something obvious?

Could be the keyboard?

Check under language & keyboard settings...do you have audible click for the keyboard selected?

That's what it is for me.

And now another question...can someone post the original Effect_tick.ogg from the stock setup? I can get it back, but only if I restore from my stock 2.1 rooted backup, and then I'd have to go through everything again...

I'm gonna see if I can't pull it from my backups...

UPDATE: Was able to get the file from my nandroid backup. Still isn't working. At all.
