Stock home -- any way to remember last used screen?

I have an original droid and seem to have to keep removing apps in order to keep up the performance (and don't have the time to root since I'll upgrade in September). So I stopped using LauncherPro, as it would get killed and restart every time I ran a large app.

So with the stock home screen, I notice that it doesn't save which screen I have been using. It always goes to the middle screen, even after I open and close an app. Is there any way to change this?

Best thing is....since your upgrade is "days" away....try not to let the bugs bother ya anymore....so much I want to change with my D1...but decided it a waste of time...since I too upgrade in September.
