Stick with the X, or go to Droid 3??

My upgrade date is Sept 1st and I'm really considering getting the 3....hopefully root will be available by then, but I guess is there any cons in making this switch that anyone can see? Maybe no one knows, but will liberty come to the 3, or will they make a clockwork mod for it? Probably asked too many questions but if anyone can give me some advice it would be appreciated!
