some app questions (video and IM)

So I've got a few questions about apps. I've got some movies I want to put on my droid, so which format do they have to be in, and which apps do I need to play them?

Also, is there an Im app that supports file transfers?

Seen a lot of threads on your video question just do a search and im sure you will find a walkthrough.

I am not sure of an im app where u can be doin file transfers...never heard of one

My friend with his bb curve can do it, so I'm sure its possible... just dunno if there's an app for it.
