There have been lots of incredible new phones and tablets announced and released on the market over these last few weeks or more. And by the looks of it there are some real beasts set to be announced shortly as well. The Motorola Nexus 6 was just announced and it's specs sure are nothing short of incredible. It's one of the very first devices to be built with the newest processor from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 805 with the Adreno 420 GPU.

This distinction is shared by the Samsung Note 4 being first, and a couple others. This is a major step up from the already amazingly powerful Snapdragon 801, and still bigger step up from the 800. The earlier two sport Quad Core Krait 400 processing cores and the later is incrementally faster than its predecessor. But what sets the 805 apart from its two baby brothers is more than just incrementally faster clock speeds.

The Snapdragon 805 takes things to a new level of performance on several fronts. First the 805 is using more efficient Krait 450 cores, it's teamed up with new all new Adreno 420 GPU which is said to be 40% faster than the 330 before it, and the 805 doubles the memory bandwidth to upwards of 30 GB/second allowing PS3 "console quality" graphics rendering performance, along with support for 4K resolution and up to 55MP camera sensors, more than double the 21MP limit for the 800/801.

The rumored and soon to be announced Droid Turbo is said to have the same architecture as the Nexus 6 in a smaller package but with a bigger battery. In terms of lean and mean I'm going to go out on a limb and give it to the Turbo; however, since it's not yet official we'll hold that award for just a few more days.
