I got it a month ago and other than the added size to the back of the phone the performance is great.
Probably need to get used to reading battery by mAh instead of % left though. The phone cant accurately keep track of such a capacity difference accurately.
I have Battery Left widget to read the battery status. 4200 mAh +/- is full and 3500 mAh+ /- is about the bottom.
I don't have one, but several posted in the Extended battery thread that they did and did not like the increased bulk of the phone very much.
I just installed the Droid 2 extended battery (which includes a new cover) on my Droid 1. It increases the phone's thickness by less than 1/8 inch and is only slightly heavier. Considering that this larger battery gives you about 40% greater capacity and is monitored normally by the phone and fits the multimedia charger, this is what I'd buy.
