Say Goodbye to Google Calendar SMS Alerts

Google has sent out an email this morning that says in part: "Starting on June 27th, 2015, SMS notifications from Google Calendar will no longer be sent. SMS notifications launched before smartphones were available. Now, in a world with smartphones and notifications, you can get richer, more reliable experience on your mobile device, even offline."

I don't know about more reliable, and yes there are other choices. Personally, I relied on getting that SMS, and understand there will be a huge cost savings for Google.

What are your thoughts?

I have to say I won't miss those alerts.....

I prefer SMS to email notifications, so yes, I will miss them. But don't use them as much now that I retired, but when working, they were great!

I agree with droidprincess..The alerts can be a PITA at times.
