Samsung Brightside

Hey, I know it is not a Droid but my wife is thinking about getting a Samsung Brightside, she does not want a phone with a Data plan but wants a better camera.

Any one know people that have the phone? She/ we have read the review and mostly positive ones at that

Run, do not walk away! My husband just returned this phone to Best Buy on Friday after having it for 6 days. He has texted every day since Friday how much he is glad to have his old basic Env Touch back.
The phone had everything he wanted:decent size screen, decent sized keys for his bigger fingers, and NO ridiculous data pkg required. (personally I enjoy having the latest toys w/my unlimited data)
From the very first day of use it would alternate dialing the Verizon "app" and trying to open the browser and dialing voicemail. With the screen "locked". Several text messages were never received and sometimes he sounded like he was standing away from the phone though he heard us perfectly fine.
It was only after the 3 or 4th day we looked up numerous reviews that said the same stuff about dialing with the screen locked. The interface is...something ya might find on a kids toy phone.
But don't take my word for it. Check multiple sites and read reviews before purchasing.

Thanks for the reply we did look at many of the reviews, most had issues with the T9 or said it was slippery? Some were
Rebooting?

She just wants a basic phone better camera than the 1.3 she has now, she uses the phone to make calls and does very little texts any one have ideas on a phone?

anyone else own this phone........more feedback please, my wife wants it before the big red extra $30 kicks up on the 4/22

Well she picked it up this morning and so far loves it! She does not text much so the T9 bug was not a deal breaker and the 3.2 camera is a big deal to her

Brightside as a cell and text phone only

I bought one because I liked the size and touch screen but I went to to a Verizon Wireless store and ask that they block all data to ensure I don't inadvertently use data (charge by mb is the default). Google "memory full" issues and texting, also.

Uninstall some of the apps, it will free up some space.
The one problem that I've seen with the phone is that when you slide out the keyboard, it unlocks the screen. Also, there doesn't seem to be a zoom on the camera?
